As part of efforts to reduce the use and environmental impact of plastic bags in São Tomé and Príncipe, GreenAd, through the IslandPlas Project, collaborated with local partner Sucata Papagaio and relevant environmental authorities to support a plastic bag collection exercise with merchant Pereira Duarte.

The exercise resulted in the collection of 1,185 kilograms of plastic bags, marking an important step towards strengthening responsible plastic waste management. By ensuring that plastic waste is separated and collected for proper handling, the initiative helps prevent these materials from ending up on streets, beaches, waterways, and other unsuitable locations.

The collection exercise also highlights the important role that businesses can play in addressing plastic pollution. GreenAd commends Pereira Duarte and other businesses that are demonstrating commitment to responsible plastic waste management and contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable São Tomé and Príncipe.

Plastic waste should not be left behind. It should be separated, collected, and responsibly managed.

Through the IslandPlas Project, GreenAd and its partners continue to support practical actions that promote improved plastic collection and recycling systems while advancing a more circular and sustainable future for São Tomé and Príncipe.
