The GIZ E-Waste Programme aimed at improving the conditions for sustainable management and disposal of electronic waste (e-waste) in Ghana. The programme focused on three levels of intervention:
- Improvement of policy framework on sustainable management on e-waste at the macro level
- Development of economically viable business modes to promote a sustainable e-waste recycling sector
- Capacity building of informal sector actors
This project, as part of intervention levels 2 and 3, entailed the development and testing of an incentive and payment system for selected e-waste types.
Scope of work:
- Market research and stakeholder engagement of scrap dealers in Old Fadama
- Setting up of a handing over centre at Old Fadama
- Developing and implementing a documentation system
- Stakeholder engagement and conducting a pilot incentive payment system
