The strategy was developed as part of the implementation of the African Environmental Health and Pollution Management Programme, funded by the Global Environment Facility. The objective of the strategy was to help change mindsets and move mercury users in the artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector towards cleaner practices and technologies.
Scope of work:
- Situational analysis of mercury use in ASGM, reflecting the ASGM context in Ghana and legal and institutional framework or mercury use in the sector
- Stakeholder identification, analysis and mapping and identification of target audience
- Stakeholder engagement planning and execution
- Case study and gap analysis
- Identification of communication goals and objectives for target audiences
- Development of key communication messages tailored to target audiences
- Identification of communication tools and channels
- Development of a two-year detailed work plan and budget
- Development of a style guide and graphic chart for all communications products and publications
- Monitoring and evaluation framework
- Development of communication materials including posters, billboard banners, one video documentary
